You Like That. 2015

Exhibition text: 'A one-day exhibition in a domestic setting on 7 November 2015 in Belfast. Curated by Alissa Kleist. Part of the (un)invited guests series. Chris Coombes investigates the objects and images that signify personal, individual or collective aspirations, drives and desires.

The exhibition includes paintings from ‘Corporate Collection’ - a series of images depicting the buildings of legal and financial firms who collect contemporary art – and an installation drawn from online footage of first class in-flight experiences. By making effects of gentrification, business globalization, and colonialism visible, You Like That acknowledges the home as both a symbolic and real space, which, though private and sheltered, is not always impervious or resistant to the conditions of capitalism.’
